Todd Williams Interview from www.roadsmillslaps.com. I am hopping that doing two updates a day will increase my small revenue from a penny to a nickel. So I will try to find one sweet article and post it. This interview I really liked. He talks about so many things I find really interesting. My favorite is the technology. I am completely torn on how much to bring science into running. From one angle the '90s were overall not good because a not a good time for the majority of American runners. Some say it was because they got away from the Trials of Miles, Miles of Trials philosophy due to the scientific research that was out at the time. A coach of mine use to say, "You know how we beat the East Africans? We send them our all-weather tracks, our stop watches, our shoes, and gear." Meaning all the East Africans do is run. They don't have all this equipment. They have a dirt track and rocks for weight machines. They wake up every morning and run and sometimes they go really hard.
Yet if you look at American's in cycling one reason I have read for their amazing run to being a nobody in the sport in early 80's to being a dominant player in 20 years with so few guys was because of technology. Remember when Greg Lemond busted out the Aero bars to win '89 Tour.

That was revolutionary. I feel as in all things it has to be a mix. Science to be an aid to the work, not control the work.
